Panel: Affordable Sales & Marketing Strategies for Small Business

Steve Vesce (Moderator) Mr. Vesce joined SCORE in 2014 as a Mentor and seminar presenter following a successful career in marketing.

Steve began his career at M&M/Mars and held several executive level positions. He led the award-winning launch of the “blue” M&M, which empowered Americans to vote for a new M&M color.

Steve held senior level marketing and sales positions as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for American Dairy Brands (Borden), Vice President of Marketing and Research and Development at New World Pasta (Ronzoni/Prince) and as the Founder and CEO of the Hershey Management Group, LLC a global consulting firm specializing in advertising, promotion, and sales effectiveness, and Chief Strategist – Still Beverages at The Coca Cola Company.

Mr. Vesce received a Bachelor’s Degree and Masters Degree from the University of Nebraska.

Bruce Gitlin – Mr. Gitlin joined SCORE in 2007 as a Mentor following his retirement from ContentGuard, Inc. He is currently a SCORE District Director and serves on the Executive Committee of the Washington, DC Chapter as the Chair of the Membership Committee and past Chapter Chair..

Bruce funded and served as CEO of ContentGuard Inc., the industry leader in providing digital rights management (DRM) technology. At ContentGuard, Bruce was responsible for strategy, business development, marketing and sales. A recognized expert in Digital Rights Management technology, he also led the company’s international standards initiatives and was a frequent speaker and conference moderator on the subject of DRM.

Mr Gitlin received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from City College of New York and holds a MBA in Finance from the University of Rochester.

Nicole Cober – Ms. Cober joined SCORE in 2015 as a Mentor following a successful career as a small business owner and operator.

Nicole owned and operated a day spa and hair salon chain that served as a revitalization catalyst in a developing area of the nation’s capital.  Ms. Cober received national media coverage regarding small business management and entrepreneurism in various publications such as People, Essence, Allure, Entrepreneur, The Washingtonian, The Washington Post, Upscale and Black Enterprise. Ms. Cober was also featured on the CBS Morning News, BET and the reality show, “Ambush Makeover.” The salon and spa received recognition by the Washington City Paper as “The Best Stylist” and “Best Spa” and Ms. Cober’s commitment to the community was on display annually when she used her business for philanthropy by providing  complementary services to Rachael’s Women’s Shelter.

Ms. Cober is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and Howard University School of Law.

Jennifer Pilcher – Founder and CEO, MilitaryOneClick

MilitaryOneClick was named a top Military Startup for 2011 by Inc. Magazine.

As a Navy spouse for fourteen years, Ms. Pilcher lived at six duty stations and understands the career challenges facing military spouses.

A highly endorsed social media trainer, consultant and trained Facebook Ad Specialist teaching professionals how to leverage and brand their businesses through the use of social media  Romona  trains groups and individuals on  the use of LinkedIn,  marketing on Facebook,  Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, and the  practices of Email Marketing.  In addition, she manages social media accounts for a number of small businesses.

Romona was listed as one of the “best in tech” at DC Web Women’s Code (Her) Conference a guest content strategy speaker for the Code(Her) Conference, has spoken to hundreds of small business owners and nonprofits – and, conducted workshops for several organizations.
